Weekly Tarot Forecast: 28 January 2017

Welcome to your weekly Tarot forecast! This is the Golden Tarot deck from Kat Black. This deck is a great artistic throwback to the Medieval-Renaissance era in which the Tarot first appeared as both a game-playing deck and fortune-telling tool, but Kat has used the early 20th-century Rider-Waite-Smith deck as the inspiration for her artistic collage images. Her method creates a very recognizable set of images for intuitive reading and also gives a Medieval Christian feel at the same time.

Since there is no specific question or area of concern for these readings, my interpretation will be very general in nature, based on my sense of what the Tarot itself is addressing and the general energy potentials for the week.

Let’s do a chronological look first, and then we’ll use some mirror pairs to round out the message.

The Timeline View

The week starts on a cautious note but builds positivity towards the middle, at least. In the Four of Coins we are greeted with a prosperous and well-built town and fine ladies on horseback in the background. The fellow in front sitting with book and coins close at hand seems calm (not grumpy like the traditional RWS depiction). Things are stable at the moment on the home front with finances built up, but there’s still a sense of possible worry about the future and a feeling of closed walls and holding on to one’s own. This card is followed by a more generous-looking Page of Coins who seems to be offering his coin to a lovely angel. Perhaps he is dedicating his fortune to the Church or some charity, or being a Page, perhaps bringing news of family visitors or a bit of extra pocket money.

Midweek seems to be the pinnacle of the week’s experience with the Sun card. Take the gifts you already have (Four of Coins) and may get (Page of Coins) and have some fun! In the sun, maybe! Time to relax, let your hair down, hang out with friends (definitely not hidden away by yourself). This will be a nice break before dealing with the challenges of the rest of the week.

As you move on toward week’s end, you will need to settle down and get serious about accomplishing something in order to feel good by week’s end. You may be tempted to continue with Wednesday’s party atmosphere and end up spending too much of your hard-earned cash, or get into a conflict with family members (The Devil). Could be hellish if you are not prepared to discipline yourself. The end of the week promises renewed good feeling, but only if you make your way successfully through a number of distractions and stay on task (Seven of Cups).

The Mirrored Tarot Pairs

Now let’s pair the outer cards up to see how they might inform your situation. We’ve got the Four of Coins coupled with the Seven of Cups. The fellow in the Four of Coins is looking away from the nun offering all those alternative fantasies in the Seven of Cups. I think it will be fairly easy to stick with your plan and make sure you don’t fritter away your resources on trying to do everything. If you have multiple options for entertainment this week, take the option with the most value for the money and let family and friends pay their own way.

The second pair, the Page of Coins and The Devil indicates that the offer of a bit of extra cash or that family visitor may end up creating more trouble than it’s worth. They could come with a temptation to use your social time in a way that’s not good for you.

The focal point for this view of your cards is the Sun, so the warning about not getting carried away from the first pair and the warning to avoid temptations you know won’t serve you would apply to any social outings you may be planning for the week. It’s great to have a good time, but don’t end up being over-exposed in any way.

Cosmic Tarot Whispers of the Week

Teawoman has done a great job of showing us how the Strength/Fortitude card can inspire our own courage, using a number of interpretations from different decks, with serpents as well as felines as the wild part of us we might need to subdue (gently or roughly, depending). Very carpe diem, this article.

Theresa Reed, The Tarot Lady, has a great list of new moon wishes this week, along with her usual curation of neat soulful news and videos. What are your wishes for this new moon?
