squashes_varietyWelcome to the latest Tarot blog hop. If you’ve come from Karen Sealey’s most excellent and voluble and often very funny blog, welcome! If you’ve come from Louisa’s Priestess Tarot blog in the other direction, welcome also! Head off in whichever direction you haven’t gone when you’re done perusing a few words here. Lovely thing about a circle: you get home regardless of which direction you go in. ;)

Mabon is the middle of the three pagan harvest festivals. Nice to have three (Lammas, Mabon, and Samhain) just to cover all the climates in the world (here in Houston, Texas, we’ve got at least three months more of virtually frost-free growing weather). It seems that the festival was named after Mabon ap Modron, a questing Welsh hero and member of King Arthur’s band of warriors. More on that over at Wikipedia, here.

In the meantime, as we enjoy the early squash, and in our case in the subtropics another batch of tomatoes as well as the figs, our intrepid blog hop wrangler, Morgan Drake Epstein, purveyor of esoteric wisdom, has asked us to wax prosaic and/or poetic on the topic of “quantum leaps” or other significant changes in our Tarot or other cartomantic work along the universal timeline.

What came to mind for me was a recent shift I experienced while doing my free readings as part of my volunteer work with the Tarot Association of the British Isles (TABI). I’d always had a sense of satisfaction from the little “personal transformation/New Age enlightenment” readings I’d done for friends and family over the last thirteen years, but reading for “strangers” was another dimension altogether. At first it was hard for me to trust my intuition and the voice of the Tarot cards themselves working together to advise someone I did not know, someone who was probably thousands of miles away, on their prospects for marriage within the next year, for example. Traditional life’s-fortune questions that every professional reader deals with.

And so, the performance anxiety began. Would I get cards that made sense for the question? Would I be able to make sense of them in a way that resonated with this stranger from far away whose life I had no direct knowledge of (Could I master the power of Art/Temperance)? Really, I do take that very seriously, the call for an accurate reading. I don’t just “make things up” but really do interpret the cards as I see ‘em.

After doing a number of these free readings with TABI, I began to get more comfortable with the quantum connection through the symbolism to the energies I believe connect us all in the collective unconscious of humanity. Those connections did indeed bear fruit, and the universal human experience began to be accurately expressed in the Tarot cards. And I got great, positive feedback, and specific indications that specific symbolism applied to the querent’s question and situation. Uncanny synchronicities, in fact. Concrete ones.

It works, it really does. And I can see the message. Wow. :) Therefore, and so inspired, I wax a tad poetic for you:

Cosmic Turn

Turn around.
Step through the mirror.
See yourself from the other side.

Doesn’t matter, really.
Circles always lead to home.
Maybe in a new dimension.

But still, it will be home.
So, keep moving, changing,
Kaleidoscoping, shape-shifting.

Spiral your way, grow.
Change is the word.
Change is the world.

Keep hopping!
